Assalaamu ‘Alaykum Warahmatullahi Wabarakaathuh

Dear Friends of Cambridge Islamic College,

Our future is the future of all Muslims in the West and the future of  our children and our grandchildren. For many generations, Muslims have divided in to two groups, the ‘secular’ and ‘religious’, and between them there exists mutual disrespect. This has made Muslims weak and young minds confused.

Cambridge Islamic College is committed to bridging the disconnect between mainstream secular education and specialised Islamic studies. Its mission is to produce a generation of independent Islamic scholars and thinkers who are, at the same time, working professionals contributing to the wider society. It puts particular emphasis on attracting bright, capable students who are already professionals or on the way to becoming professionals. It expects its graduates to be active as role models in their communities, respected both for their knowledge of the religion and for the flexibility, realism, and independence of mind with which they apply it. In this way, they will inspire others to combine the practice of Islam with a positive concern to use their personal and professional skills for the benefit of the whole society.

Building Appeal

“Cambridge Islamic College started about four years ago, holding day and weekend courses in hired venues in Cambridge, London, Oxford and other cities. Alhamdulillah, from this very modest beginning, the College is now nearer to having its own proper space in Cambridge. Alhamdulillah, we now have the opportunity to acquire this building and we hope inshaAllah this will be our permanent home for the near future. No doubt, this is an important time for the College and we need the help and support of the public to go forward. We hope that the people who understand the vision of the College and the need of the College will help us, inshaAllah, to raise enough money to acquire the property for the College and to also run the College properly in a way that will help not only the Muslims but all of humanity” – Dr Mohammad Akram Nadwi

This Ramadhan we are ever more closer to achieving our mission. Alhamdulillah we have managed to acquire two properties in central Cambridge worth £2 million – the former Methodist Church for College capmpus (58 Sturton Street) and adjoining 10-room house for women’s hostel (56 Sturton Street). We need to raise another £400,000 to pay off the debts and secure the properties. This could not have happened at any better time than in Ramadhan – the month of perseverance and charity. So we appeal to our friends and supporters to help us achieve this target by the end of Ramadhan. If 400 people donate £1000 each we can easily reach our target, inshaAllah.

“Lend unto Allah a goodly loan. Whatever good you shall forward on
your behalf you shall find it with Allah, as better and richer in
reward” – [Qur’an 73: 20]

£400,000   =   £10000 x 40 | £5000 x 80 people   |   £2500 x 160 people   |   £1000 x 400 people

“And whatsoever you spend of anything (in Allah’s Cause), He will replace it.” – [Qur’an 34: 39]

“And whatever you spend in good, it will be repaid to you in full, and you shall not be wronged.” – [Qur’an 2: 272]
